For World of Dance, Houston, I decided I wanted to dance and vibe to a R&B song from the early 2000's. The song is called “Missyou” by Musiq Soul Child.
World of Dance Colorado 2018 | Dance Freestyle
This footage is from when I judged and performed for World of Dance Colorado a couple weeks back. I’ve been bouncing back and forth between current songs and crate digs from my childhood. As I’m doing this more, I’m finding that in the songs that I choose, there similarities in the artists voice and tone. For me, the tone and bounce of the melody strikes me more than the lyrics do (i’m one of those lyrics.com people). After the performance, one of the World of Dance staff members complimented me on choose to dance to a female rapper which I thought was interesting. Its not a conscious choice that I make, choosing to dance between male and female artists. I didn’t know that was a thing. I mean, I don’t think it’s bad if people do that, I think i can understand why. It was just never in my consideration when choosing a song to perform but I think it’s interesting. Is the gender of the artist a consideration when you decide what song you want to choreograph/teach/perform to? Let me know your thoughts.

Hotel Room Challenge 02 | Springhill Suites Marriott Houson
I couldn’t properly capture the size of this hotel because I only brought photography equipment suitable for close up self portraits, but it was big. So big that I felt i disrespected it by not having some crazy hotel room party. Like it was disappointing in me for not having used it for what it was meant for, I denied the room’s destiny by being a lame hotel room guest.
Also, as it happens the day I did this, it was pouring 90 degrees and 90% humidity RAIN. Hot hot wet rain. So I had to get real creative with the light situation. The best shot here is probably in the bathroom for which they had spectacular lighting.

Hotel Room Challenge 01 | Hilton Atlanta
Traveling as part of my work is a blessing and recently I’ve been traveling a great deal for the World of Dance Competition. I don’t have a lot of time at each stop to search around for locations to photograph and often I only have some free time the morning of the event in the hotel room . So to full take advantage of these trips and as a photography challenge to myself, I decided to try to create quick self portraits in these rooms and maximize whatever is provided in the rooms.
First stop: Hilton Atlanta
World of Dance Atlanta 2018 | Dance Performance
Last weekend, I freestyled to "Let Me Blow Your Mind" by Eve and Gwen Stefani for the World Of Dance Atlanta 2018. This is such a throwback 90's hip hop song. I've loved this song for so long and have never taught class, taken dance class, choreographed, nor performed it and this seemed like a good opportunity to showcase this song and my love for it to an audience and demographic that might not know it. A couple of dancers came up to me afterwards needing to know the name of this song.
My work here is done.
Maybe I should do a bunch of songs that I've loved but never have performed to. I have a couple more World of Dance Showcases and this seems like a pretty good opportunity to share music from another era that are amazing but doesn't really make the rotations in current playlists. Anyone got any suggestions?

I hate hot weather, but i love the hot weather tropical look. This is me wearing what should be worn on the beaches of Bali or Fiji or any number of exotics location that end with "i". But of course, I'm doing this shoot in an well air conditioned apt in Los Angeles. Best of both worlds
HYPEBEAST x Nike x Kendrick Lamar
Emily Oberg, Kendrick Lamar
One of my favorite photos that I took came during the 2018 All Star Weekend when I covered the Nike Lab event for HYPEBEAST where Kendrick Lamar released his Nike collab "Kung Fu Kenny" Cortez's. Its rare to see press photos of Kendrick smiling so I was happy to capture this moment.
Intro to Adult-ing
One of the prerequisites is to take care and nurture another life being that parenting is one of the most important things a person can do in his or her lifetime. Some people go straight into parenthood while others start with pets big and small. Others who need a little more of a training wheel go with plants. The pros of which is lower maintenance, great decor, and better air in your living space and cons of which are... none that I can think if, they're perfect.
I have decided to go with plants, obviously. But since I've killed a bunch of plants including a cactus, bamboo, and any and all forms of flowers, I've decided to start with fake plants. It has all the same benefits except maybe the air... and having to learn responsibility.
I needed training wheels for my training wheels.
